Nestled between steep Devon hills is Redhill Barn (also known as The Outfarm) an award-winning barn conversion that is quietly pushing the boundaries of timber frame engineering. Sarah and Tom, architects from London based practice Type Studio, undertook the conversion of a traditional stone and timber frame barn for Tom’s parents to live in.

The large existing barn was roofless and ruined but the key part of Type’s brief was to restore the building’s character and retain the simplicity of the once functional building, adapting it for modern living.
